Scene's from The Grand Canyon

Wed Nov 8, 2006, 6:14 PM
  • Mood:
  • Listening to: On My Own from Les Mis
  • Reading: The Writings of Existentialism
  • Watching: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
As I was cleaning up my dA account the other day I relized that I had a three part series that spreads threw out my whole account.

The subject is none other then one of the natrual wonder's of the World...this huge landscape falls into three states, its vastly wide and twice as deep with a beautiful sea green river flowing down at the very bottom. To explore this natural wonder correctly one would spend day's if not week's going from forest trail to high desert trail. I'm of course referring to none other then The Grand Canyon which lucky for me only lies about 2 hour's away from me. I have had the pleasure of covering many of it's trail from The Great Western Rim to the far Eastern Rim and into the Zion Mountain Range. A Rock Climber's dream by the way.

Like all my other series I of course will show you the many diffrent scene's of this wonderous place, some in black and white, some in color...some of people..some of the local houses and hotels...I of course will continue to add to this entry as I narrow down the photo's of my latest trip to The Grand Canyon Bright Angel Trail. Its a vast 5 mile trail that start's at Mather Point home of the local night time Moon Walk all the way past the popular Village to the famous Kolb Studio and end's just beyond the much loved Mule Ride Trail.

I shall start this showing from my first trip to my latest...covering some of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever had the pleasure of shooting.

The not so well known Lagoon found at the base of the popular mule trail.

Shot in the wee hour's of the morning ontop of a vast cliff, some editing has been done to the coloring.

These three are all available for Print's and all were taken on the same trip when I discovered the old cemetary lane. The short walk threw the woods eventually join's Bright Angel Trail to the most breath taking cliff's this section of the Canyon has to offer.

This was taken at the same time as the above three, the only diffrences, it was the only one I decided to leave in color and not offer as a print.

On my most recent trip my brother turned all excited to point out a bunny at the start of The Bright Angel Trail, I found his expression much more intresting then that of the bunny

The entrance and side view of the famous Kolb Brother's Studio found at the trail head of Bright Angel. The house is now a small gift shop with a gallary showing the Brother's best work in regards to the Canyon.

Taken on The Bright Angel Trail itself. Im sure I wil continue adding shot's to this mini series and I hope to offer these three shot's as the first prints from the mini series.

*More to come as I finish going threw the many many shot's of The Bright Angel Trail and The Village.

Ansel Adams once said....

"Millions of men have lived to fight, build palaces and boundaries, shape destinies and societies; but the compelling force of all times has been the force of originality and creation profoundly affecting the roots of human spirit. "
